Kitesurfing
Lessons Your First Kite
A
basic rule to go by when buying your first set of kitesurfing
gear is get a small kite and a big board.
This
rule will depend on what type of kite you buy. In 07
Kite design changed a lot and they became more powerful,
so we don't want to be over powered whilst we are still
learning our new skills. Plus check out if the kite
is beginner friendly. Big boards float better, it's
a lot easier to board start and you will have better
balance with a bigger board. Same again the newer boards
are built for most conditions and are beginner friendly
so there is no need to swap and change once you are
riding well. If you have wakeboarding skills already
you can go for a slightly smaller board 135, if not
and you are brand new to it all go for something between
135 and 145. We use a 151 in the School for teaching
and I use it as my personal board also. When you get
fancy and start jumping and performing tricks you will
need something 140 and below as it will be easier to
control and have better pop.
