Kitesurfing
Lessons/Controlled Turns
Before
you try to turn you must be able to Board Start and
ride both ways. You are best off learning on a Twin
Tip Board as this will allow you to change direction
easily. Performing a turn depends a lot on how strong
the wind is, if it is blowing it is a lot easier.
When
riding take your Kite to 12 o'clock which will slow
you down. Pull down on the bar slightly to stop yourself
from sinking and point the kite in the opposite direction
you would like to ride in. Lean back slightly and point
your leading foot in the direction the kite is pointing
and bend the back knee slightly. If the wind is strong
you will not need to pull down on the Bar. If the wind
is light you will need to pull down and sign wave the
Kite to keep your movement and power to ride in the
new direction. You must judge your turn depending on
the wind strength, try it slowly first as is is better
to sink and Board start again than be over powered and
fall off your Board.
If
you would like to learn to turn under the supervision
of an instructor you can book a Waterwork Lesson or
Personal Tuition.
